TREAT HIV LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT.

With treatment, your HIV can be undetectable (it won’t show up on tests because the viral load will be too small) and untransmittable (you won’t pass the virus to others).

Austin Public Health is here to help you at every step of your journey with low- or no-cost testing, treatment, and more.

Getting a diagnosis

Being undetectable means that I am not able to transmit the virus to others. But it also means I am able to live my life fully, happily, as if I didn’t have HIV. – Alfonso C.

After years of working in HIV prevention in Austin, Alfonso let his guard down and found that he had contracted the virus.

But by getting a treatment plan and on the right medicine, he found he had reached undetectable status within six months of his initial diagnosis.

Getting tested is the first step to getting a diagnosis and getting into treatment.
